Marketing Co-Chair

 

(HBSAANY Board Member)

 

The Marketing Co-Chair (or co-Chair) is responsible for the external marketing of the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of Greater New York (HBSAANY), with a special emphasis on our reputation in the entrepreneurial community and generating deal flow, as well as sponsorships.

 

Specifics include:

  • Develop focused strategies, marketing initiatives, and messaging to entrepreneurs to differentiate HBSAANY and to increase deal flow quantity and quality to our community.

  • Oversight of selected external digital marketing, with support by Program Manager.

    • Social Media – Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn

    • Opt-in mailing list and weekly newsletters to that list

    • Developing content for newsletters and other content marketing (in conjunction with Portfolio Relations Chair for portfolio news, and External Relations for marketing to VCs/deal sources)

    • Projects as needed – testing paid digital marketing, SEO, video.

  • As needed, developing any HBSAANY marketing materials and premiums.

  • Overseeing Events and Event Marketing, where resources allow (excludes Pitch Nights and most Startup Showcases which are overseen by other board members).

  • Generating and overseeing paid (and in-kind) sponsorships (currently Tri-Net and First Republic Bank).

  • Participating in monthly HBSAANY Board meetings and related initiatives; overseeing marketing budget; Coordination with HBSCNY Marketing, as needed.

 

The time commitment for this position is expected to be approximately 10-20 hours per month.

External Relations Co-Chair:  Venture Capital Partnerships

 

(HBSAANY Board Member)

The External Relations Co Chair for Venture Capital Partnerships is responsible for building/maintaining ties with venture capital and seed stage investment firms in New York City and elsewhere. Our goal is to share select deal flow -- both inbound angel/seed co-investment opportunities from VCs and outbound Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of Greater New York (HBSAANY) portfolio companies raising follow-on rounds.

 

Specific include:

 

  • Maintain and build on our base of members and VC contacts, currently with 20 VC firms/members listed, and guide members on how to build these relationships on behalf of HBSAANY

 

  • Develop, write and oversee a monthly newsletter to VCs that communicates/reinforces our value proposition (investment history, quality of members, value-added, speed to decision, follow-on investment, etc.) and provides updates on current investments and successes

 

  • Help lead and evolve the HBSAANY VC Advisory Board

 

  • Build and evolve our marketing strategy to VC’s as appropriate, e.g., events, panels, other new ideas

 

Experience with VC’s is a plus, but not required.  The time commitment for this position is expected to be approximately 5-10 hours per month.
